Market Research Society of Sri Lanka elects committee for the year 2018
At the 5th Annual General Meeting of the Market Research Society of Sri Lanka (MRSSL) held recently, current President of MRSSL, Ms. Himalee Madurasinghe was re-elected for her third term.
Ms. Madurasinghe, in her acceptance speech, thanked the support of the society and the Executive Committee for a successful year 2017 that went by and outlined the plans for the coming year. Ms. Madurasinghe provided a detailed account of activities conducted by the society in the year 2017 that aimed at promoting knowledge sharing within the marketing and research fraternity. She highlighted the collaboration between member agencies and global body ESOMAR for the effort of elevating the Market Research industry of Sri Lanka to greater heights. Ms. Madurasinghe highlighted the changing nature of Market Research and the need for continuous evolvement of tools and techniques to deliver the best possible solutions of the highest quality to marketers.
While Ms. Himalee Madurasinghe as President and Ms. Roshani Fernando as Secretary continue for another term, the Executive Committee of 2018 also has new faces as the society aims to develop talent into larger roles.

TOP 10 CONSUMER TRENDS IN SRI LANKA, QUANTUM SOLUTIONS
A close look at the top 10 trends that are bound to shape and define consumer behavior that will undoubtedly impact how brands or organizations interact with an increasingly dynamic and evolving marketplace
MRSSL in partnership with Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) carried out a workshop for Sri Lankan Marketers. The workshop, held on the 15th of March 2018 at The Hilton Residencies, was the third year in a row SLIM and MRSSL organized it for the benefit of the marketing fraternity in Sri Lanka. The workshop titled ‘Evolving consumer landscape’, was developed with an objective to discuss changing consumer and retail landscape in Sri Lanka. More than 50 middle management associates from the corporate sector attended the workshop.
The speakers present were Ms. Himalee Madurasinghe, President of MRSSL and C.E.O. of Kantar LMRB and Kantar Insights Sri Lanka, Mr. Sharang Pant – Managing Director at Nielsen Sri Lanka, Ms. Roshani Fernando, Partner/ Head – Quantum Consumer Solutions, Mr. Neel De Silva, CEO/Chairman – SRL, Ms. Therica Miyanadeniya, Director – Consumer Insights at Nielsen Sri Lanka and Ms. Chamalika Gunawardana, Lead – Quantum Consumer Solutions.
The areas covered were vast and most informative to those in strategy and marketing positions in organizations. The topics covered were on – Role of market research in decision making, an understanding of the demographic profile of the Sri Lankan consumer, the psychographic profile of the Sri Lankan household, retail and consumption trends and the modern trade landscape.
Ms. Roshini Fernando, Secretary MRSSL, highlighted that the event was a great example of leading research agencies in the country coming together in collaboration with SLIM.
